Crabbies Fish and Chips

We all love fish and chips I am sure, but how about including Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer in the batter?

This sounds like a great alternative to the usual fish and chips I eat!

● 2 150g of Cod Fillets
● 300 ml of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer
● 250g of flour
● 3tbs of baking powder
● 1 kg of chipping potatoes, cut into chips

Tartar Sauce
● 200ml mayonaise
● 2 shallots
● 3 tbs capers
● 3 tbs cornichons
● 1lime
● 150 ml of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer

● Preheat the fryer to 140c, blanch the chips for 10 mins set aside
● For the tartar sauce, reduce the Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer by 2/3 set aside to cool, place
the mayo,capers, cornichons, shallots, reduced Crabbie’s and the juice of lime in a food
processor. Pulse 3 times for 10 seconds a time set aside
● Put the fryer up to 190c
● For the batter put the flour in a bowl, start to add the Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer while
whisking the mix until it is thick enough to coat a spoon. Last minute whisk in the baking
power to make a lighter batter
● Coat the cod in the batter then slowly put into the fryer for 4 minutes, as soon as the fish
comes out put the chips down again

Hi, my name is Janice and I am the founder of stands for Optimistic and ProActive Seniors Chat. OAPSchat was born in April 2013 as a Facebook page. To date there are over 1460 FB likes. It was in November 2013 that I decided I had enough material and confidence to launch the website.

Since that day, I have been writing articles on all kinds of topics. ranging from hobbies, holidays, food and drink, memories, families, finance and much much more. I now have over one hundred and thirty seven wonderful contributors to date and articles on all different subjects are posted on a daily basis. Over 1400 articles can be read now! Raffles are held monthly, sometimes more often. A newsletter goes out once a month with my plans for the coming weeks. I am an Independent Happy List Winner 2014 for founding the website.

Loneliness is a big scourge on our society worldwide and the website helps combat this awful isolation by coming together and sharing our thoughts and ideas. OAPSchat is well and truly born now and I hope it will continue to thrive. With your support, I'm confident it will!
