This is a poem I have written about wedding anniversary names given for different years of marriage.
The very first gift given is paper
Special occasion to always remember
Second is cotton, lasting and new
A practical gift for me and you
Leather for third, tough and sturdy
Flowers for fourth, scented and pretty
Five is wood, shiny and polished
Six is candy, easily demolished
Copper is seven, bronze is eight
Is a strong marriage down to fate?
Pottery for nine, ten for tin
Secure containers to keep things in
Steel is eleven, silk is twelve
Sleek and satin, opposites weld
Thirteen’s lace, fourteen ivory
By my side to always guide me
Fifteen, crystal – twenty, china
Never known anyone kinder
Twenty-five silver - thirty, pearl
Stated simply, you’re my world
Thirty- five, coral - ruby, forty
A big anniversary jolly party
Sapphire forty- five, a golden fifty
Together bound for eternity
Emerald fifty -five, diamond sixty
Marriage for life, not a whimsy
Our precious years, such rich treasure
Happiness, warmth and love forever.
